“Christmas in the Philippines is very much the same everywhere; whether you are rich or poor everyone knows how to celebrate Christmas. Normally people come to the church at 10pm and

then they’ll go home and celebrate the midnight meal as a family, and there will be fireworks at midnight. There will be food on the table - so it depends on if you are rich then there will be more food; if you are poor then there will be less food. During Christmas we have many outreaches. We give hampers especially to the families who are very poor. We buy some groceries, put them in baskets and then we already identify the poor families so on the morning on the 24th we go around and give them these hampers so they have something to cook to celebrate. We also have a Philippines Christmas Charity programme for about 100 kids. We give them lunch and then there will be some activities.” Fr Rey MGL
