As we move towards the end of the year I am full of gratitude for all the Lord has done. We have celebrated three ordinations to priesthood; Vijay and Samson in the Canberra Cathedral, and then Viknesh in our own spacious hall in Maumere Indonesia. We have also rejoiced in three brothers professing perpetual vows; Michael, Adrian and Joseph, followed up with their ordination to the diaconate. And we are heading towards celebration in Canberra of initial vows and promises. But with the gift comes great responsibility. Please pray that we will continue to
be faithful to our charism. Once a new movement in the Church becomes established and more
institutionalised it can begin to make compromises. The original spiritual fervour and large-heartedness of response to the Lord’s calling may become dissipated. Please pray that the MGL will maintain our prophetic edge and retain our charismatic sharpness in listening to the Lord and obeying his word. May we stay close to the poor and those on the peripheries of society. May we continue to remain on the cutting edge of evangelising young people and calling them to greatness in the Lord. I trust you all have a blessed Advent and Christmas celebration. Thanks for your faithfulness to the Lord and your generous support of our ministries of formation and evangelisation. Let’s all pray for one another; that we will all be truly faithful to God’s calling on our lives.
Happy Christmas and a blessed New Year to all.
Fr Ken Barker MGL
