In St Benedict's Parish, we have been regularly assisting more than 2000 families through various means of food distribution. The generosity of many in Australia has been of great help to us. Those in need require rice – the staple food here – so we have been buying about 100 sacks (50kg/sack) of rice every 3 weeks or so and distributing 4-5 kg of rice per family on a staggered basis. We have Community Pantries, which are centres where people can donate food that is then made available a set number of times per week to those in need. It is great that parishioners generously support these initiatives.
