Phil 4:10-19 There is nothing absolutely wrong with being poor or rich as long as we have sufficient to live our lives befitting to our human dignity. The rich, of course have by far the greater responsibility as their wealth gives them a duty of care towards those less fortunate than them. The rich would do well to remember this as they decide what to do with their wealth. Remember, all that we have is a gift from God and we are mere stewards of it for a very short period of time.

Jesus, you said it would be harder for the rich to enter heaven than for a camel to pass through the eye of a needle. I pray that the rich in today’s society will remember their responsibility towards the poor and do all they can to alleviate their suffering.

Lk 16:9-15 Jesus tells us that money is a tainted thing. There are many sins committed for the sake of the inordinate love of money. This is something that we need to guard ourselves against constantly. Perhaps we should remember a simple saying that I once heard – Let us live simply so that others may simply live!

Lord Jesus, help me to live a simple life and to do all that I can to help those less fortunate that I am to have a decent and dignified life as well. Sow me the path of a simple life and help me to never grow attached to earthly possessions.
