Is 11: 1-10 The image of peace and serenity painted here is one in which we all hope. It is the glory of heaven. We may not see this accomplished on earth, but we will see it and experience its fullness in heaven. It is this hope that gives us the strength to work for peace and unity among the men and women of the world. Without hope of sharing in God’s glory where do we get the inspiration to work for his Kingdom?

Holy Spirit, increase my hope ; bring it to its fullness in eternal life. Never let me lose hope so that in all I say or do I give living witness to its possibility today and every day of my life.

Lk 10: 21-24 It is not that God wants to hide the truth from anyone, it is simply that some are more disposed to hear it and that is one of their particular blessings in life. It is always a choice of whether or not we listen to God’s word. It is important to remember this as it is the busy people who are inclined to say that God is not talking to them, or in other words, is hiding something from them. This sentiment could not be further from the truth. It is their busyness; their concern for other things that hides the truth of God from them. They choose this particular state of readiness to hear.

Father in Heaven, you love all people and desire that all of us be saved. You speak daily to us all through many and varied means. Help me to be attentive to all that you want to say to me.
