Col 1: 9-14      Paul indicates that it is spiritual wisdom that should take the pride of place in our desires to be formed in the ways of God. One aspect of spiritual wisdom is the necessity of humility. This becomes important the more wisdom we gain as there will be temptations to fall into pride at the knowledge we have gained. Let us take the call to be humble seriously so that we will be protected from such temptations.

Holy Spirit, help me to grow in humility so that I will always be responsible in the way I use the gifts and blessings you have given me.

Lk 5: 1-11       Jesus calls his disciples to share in his ministry. He continues to call men and women to proclaim the Gospel with him. It is up to each one of us to respond to his call as we are willing. We can refuse to become his disciple if that is what we want; we can choose to follow him if that is our desire. It is important to know that we are responsible for all the choices we make in life. They are what create our character.

Jesus, help me to realize that my choices contribute to making me the person I am. Help me to make them wisely so that I will be a good person, caring for all.
